CHESTER, W.Va. — A high-speed chase that began in Columbiana County, Ohio, ended in Chester, West Virginia Sunday night with the arrest of a man facing multiple felony charges, according to the Hancock County, West Virginia Sheriff’s Office.
Police attempted to stop a stolen Mercedes sedan on State Route 39 in East Liverpool around 7:15 p.m. The driver, identified as 41-year-old Van Keith Jones II of Massillon, allegedly refused to stop and led officers on a chase that crossed into West Virginia on U.S. 30.
Chester Police eventually brought the pursuit to an end and took Jones into custody. Authorities say Jones already had outstanding felony charges in Ohio, including robbery, strangulation, intimidation of a witness, violation of a protection order, theft and domestic violence. He now faces additional felony charges in West Virginia related to the incident.
As of Tuesday morning, Sept. 2, Jones is being held in the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville without bond.
