Four-day film festival coming to Wheeling this week

WHEELING, W.Va. – Wheeling art and film fans are in for a cinematic treat this week with the new Foxfire Film Festival at the Towngate Theatre, according to the event website.

The four-day festival takes place Thursday, September 11 through Sunday, September 14 and features West Virginia and international filmmakers with a focus on student documentary work.

Participants and the the public will have the opportunity to enjoy award-winning films from established artists plus see new works from upcoming student filmmakers.

“The Foxfire Film Festival is driven by a commitment to celebrating the art of storytelling. We aim to showcase the unique voices of local filmmakers alongside diverse narratives from award-winning filmmakers around the globe.”

Some of the films to be screened include King Coal, The Lost AstronautPerseidesMotorcycle MaryDears in Headlights and Appalheads.

The festival is organized by volunteers interested in bringing the art of cinema to Wheeling and there are opportunities available for you to help.

The event takes place at Towngate Theatre in Wheeling with workshops held at other locations to be announced. Tickets range from $5 to $30.
