BELLAIRE, Ohio — Bellaire High School and the Bellaire Local School District faced challenges in the latest report cards released by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, which provide a snapshot of academic performance and readiness across the state.
Bellaire High School received 2.5 stars out of 5, while the overall Bellaire Local School District earned a rating of 3 stars. The report also introduced a new category evaluating college, career, workforce, and military readiness, in which Bellaire High School earned just one star out of five, highlighting struggles in preparing students for life after graduation.
The results underscore areas where Bellaire schools may focus on improving student readiness and post-graduation support programs.
Other local schools fared better. St. Clairsville-Richland received 3.5 stars, and Steubenville City Schools earned 4 stars. Monroe Central High School and Martins Ferry City also scored poorly with 2.5 stars.
The report cards, which are designed to give parents, students, and communities a clearer view of school performance, take into account standardized test scores, graduation rates, and post-graduation preparation.
