Fire Sparks at Bellaire Gas Station During Renovations; No Injuries Reported

BELLAIRE, Ohio — Tense moments unfolded Monday afternoon at a Bellaire gas station undergoing renovations when sparks from construction equipment ignited gasoline fumes.

According to officials, a worker operating a concrete saw at the former Smith Oil station on Guernsey Street accidentally produced sparks when the saw blade hit rebar. The sparks ignited fumes from a nearby gas pump, prompting an immediate response from the Bellaire, Neffs, and Martins Ferry fire departments.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and no injuries were reported.

The station is currently under renovation, and the cause of the sparks has been ruled accidental.
