EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – East Liverpool City Council has approved a plan to use federal grant funding to hire four new firefighters, marking a historic upgrade for the city’s fire department.
With the additional personnel, the department will now be able to staff a full crew of four on its ladder truck for the first time ever, enhancing response capabilities for fires and emergencies throughout the city.
City officials said the grant funding made the expansion possible without putting additional strain on the city’s budget, and residents can expect improved safety coverage as the new hires are trained and deployed.
The council did not announce an exact timeline for when the new firefighters will officially join the department.
