ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — An 18-year-old homeless man from Belmont County is in jail after witnesses reported seeing him loading a gun outside St. Clairsville Schools just before dismissal Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, school administrators saw the man, identified as Elliot Scott Blunk, remove a magazine from his backpack and load it into a pistol stowed in his waistband.
Officers quickly responded and arrested Blunk without incident. He has been charged with inducing panic, illegal conveyance of a deadly weapon in a school safety zone, and aggravated menacing.
Blunk is being held at the Belmont County Jail on $18,500 bail while awaiting arraignment.
