ST. CLAIRSVILLE —The Ohio Valley Mall is already gearing up for the holiday season, with many stores posting “Now Hiring” signs and seeking extra help ahead of what is expected to be a busy shopping period. As local residents prepare for their annual holiday shopping trips, retailers inside the mall are working months in advance to handle the increased demand.
Mall Marketing Director Candi Noble-Greathouse said stores began their seasonal hiring as early as August and September to get ahead of shipments, sales, and major shopping events. “Several of our stores are bringing on holiday help,” she said. “They start early because they know the rush is coming, and they want to be ready for the big sales and community events.”
The holiday atmosphere will soon take full shape as Santa Claus makes his first appearance in November, officially kicking off the mall’s festive calendar. In the meantime, more empty storefronts are being filled with temporary vendors and holiday stands, giving early shoppers a chance to get ahead on their gift lists. Noble-Greathouse added that more people have started shopping earlier in recent years, with some visitors coming in as soon as October as stores begin putting out seasonal displays.
