COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has referred more than 1,000 cases of alleged voter fraud to the U.S. Department of Justice for investigation.
According to LaRose’s office, the cases include more than 1,000 instances of non-citizens allegedly registering to vote in Ohio. In addition, 99 cases involve individuals suspected of voting in two different states during the same election, and 14 cases involve ballots apparently cast after the voter had died.
LaRose said the referrals demonstrate Ohio’s commitment to maintaining election integrity, while emphasizing that the state’s elections remain secure overall. He added that such investigations are an important part of ensuring confidence in the voting process.
The Department of Justice will now review the cases to determine whether criminal charges or further actions are warranted.
