PITTSBURGH – A missing 13-year-old Louisiana girl was found hidden in a box covered with a sheet in a Pittsburgh basement Thursday, according to WTAE.
Police found the girl alive in in the Brighton neighborhood of the city following a tip from Childline to the Pittsburgh Police Special Victims Unit. She was able to tell authorities her story.
The girl said she met the suspect, Ki-Shawn Crumity, age 26, over Snapchat and traveled to Pittsburgh on a Greyhound bus. She told police that Crumity gave her edibles and alcohol and sexually assaulted her once or twice per day for a week.
The girl was treated at a Pittsburgh hospital where she told authorities she felt the safest she had ever been.
Another man, 62-year-old Ronald Smith, was also arrested, in Columbus, Georgia, for alleged involvement in this incident. Smith allegedly transported the girl from Baton Rouge, Louisiana then put her on a bus. The girl was also reportedly seen with a woman at a bus station in Washington, D.C.
According to WTAE, “Crumity faces multiple charges including trafficking in individuals, statutory sexual assault of a victim between 8 and 11 years older, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault and corruption of minors.”
