Wheeling Attorney Convicted on 29 Counts of Fraud, Money Laundering

WHEELING, W.Va. — A federal jury on Thursday found Wheeling attorney Paul J. Harris, 62, guilty on 29 counts involving the misuse of client funds, fraud, and money laundering.

According to federal prosecutors, Harris repeatedly diverted client money for personal use through a pattern of mail and wire fraud, actions that now expose him to severe penalties. He faces up to 20 years in prison for each mail and wire fraud charge, meaning he could potentially spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Prosecutors are also seeking a fine, full restitution to affected clients, and forfeiture of property connected to Harris Law Offices.

Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
