Homeless Camp in Wheeling Officially Closed Monday Evening

0

WHEELING — Wheeling’s Exempted Homeless Camp officially closed at 5 p.m. Monday, leaving residents displaced but supported by charity organizations working to provide assistance.

Local nonprofits and volunteer groups were on hand as the camp closed, helping individuals and families access shelter, food, and other essential services. Officials say these efforts are part of ongoing discussions to find long-term solutions to support the homeless population during the winter months.

City leaders and service organizations continue to explore strategies to ensure that the homeless have access to safe, warm accommodations and necessary resources as temperatures drop.
