CHARLESTON, W.Va. — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R–West Virginia) has announced she will seek a third term in the U.S. Senate in the 2026 election.
Capito, first elected to the Senate in 2014, is currently serving her second six-year term. Her announcement formally places the longtime Republican lawmaker back on the campaign trail as West Virginia’s 2026 election cycle begins to take shape.
Capito previously served West Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives before winning her Senate seat.
