BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — Belmont County animal rescue Hoof and Paw is seeking foster homes for 40 cats recently forfeited by James and Debora Groh of Shadyside, Ohio. The cats were surrendered Thursday as part of court proceedings connected to a child endangerment case involving four children.
This latest forfeiture follows a 2023 incident in which 35 cats were removed from the Grohs’ residence. Hoof and Paw officials are appealing to the community to provide temporary homes for the animals while the organization works to place them with permanent adoptive families.
Residents interested in fostering or helping with the cats can contact Hoof and Paw for more information.
