Marshall County Officials Approve Deal to Revive Natural Gas Power Plant, Boost Local Revenue

MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. – Marshall County is moving forward with plans to revive a stalled combined-cycle natural gas power plant project, prompted by growing electricity demand from expanding data centers. Capline Mid-Atlantic Development has reached an agreement with the Marshall County Commission and Board of Education to support the project.

Under the deal, county officials have approved a 30-year payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT), which is expected to generate nearly $21 million in revenue for the county commission and local schools. The agreement aims to both jumpstart the power plant project and provide a steady stream of funds for local government and educational services.
