WHEELING, W.Va. — Emergency crews responded Wednesday afternoon after the Washington Avenue Bridge collapsed into Wheeling Creek.
Officials say three workers were injured and taken to the hospital, including one with serious injuries. Two others sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Police and fire units remain on the scene, and the area has been closed to support rescue operations. The bridge had been closed since early December for a replacement project expected to last nearly a year.
