HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va. — Circuit Judge David Sims sentenced former Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Patrick J. Hoder Thursday following his guilty plea in November for possession of child sexual abuse material.
Hoder received the maximum sentence of two years in prison, to be followed by ten years of supervised release and lifetime registration as a sex offender.
Although the West Virginia Legislature has since revised the maximum sentence for the crime, Judge Sims noted that he was required to impose the sentence under the law in effect when Hoder was initially charged.
The case concludes the prosecution of Hoder, who admitted to possessing illegal sexual material involving minors.
