WHEELING, W.Va. — Wheeling businessman and philanthropist Howard Long has died at the age of 91.
Long was widely known for building Coronet Foods into a national food distribution company, helping grow the business into a major supplier within the industry.
Beyond his business accomplishments, Long made a lasting impact on the Ohio Valley through his charitable contributions. He provided the first $1 million toward construction of the Howard Long Wellness Center.
Long’s family announced that a public celebration of life will be held this spring. Additional details are expected to be released at a later date.
