OHIO — The race for Ohio’s 6th Congressional District seat is shaping up to be competitive, with multiple candidates filing to run in the upcoming primary election.
Incumbent Republican U.S. Representative Michael Rulli of Salem is seeking another term. Rulli faces a Republican primary challenge from Jullie Kelley of Monroe, who previously ran for township trustee in Carroll County.
On the Democratic side, six candidates have filed to run in the primary. They include:
- Sean Connolly of Canfield
- Malcolm Ritchie of Dover
- Adrian Vitus of Poland
- Brent Hanni of Youngstown
- Charles DiPalma of Steubenville
- Elizabeth Kirtley of New Philadelphia
The winner of each party’s primary will advance to the general election in November.
The primary election is scheduled for May 5. Candidates filing for the 6th District represent an area that stretches across eastern Ohio, including communities along the Ohio River and into the Mahoning Valley.
