Firefighters Battle Ohio Valley House Fire in Freezing Conditions

NEWELL, W.Va. — Newell firefighters battled both a house fire and freezing temperatures Sunday evening while responding to a blaze at a two-story home.

Crews arriving at the house near Jefferson Street encountered frozen fire hydrants due to the cold weather, forcing them to call for tanker support to supply water to the scene.

Firefighters worked for approximately an hour before bringing the fire under control.

No additional details about injuries or the cause of the fire have been released.
