Ohio, West Virginia Lawmakers Focus on Student-Athlete Compensation and Transfers

COLUMBUS, Ohio / CHARLESTON, W.Va. — State legislators in Ohio and West Virginia are increasingly scrutinizing financial incentives for high school athletes.

In Ohio, two House members recently introduced House Bill 661, which would ban name, image, and likeness (NIL) payments to high school athletes.

Meanwhile, in West Virginia, the House of Delegates has set aside House Bill 47-59 for further discussion. The bill would regulate transfer eligibility for high school student-athletes.
