HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va. — Hancock County Commissioners approved the first reading of an ordinance that would abolish the county’s Parks and Recreation Board of Directors.
The ordinance passed by a two-to-one vote during the commission’s most recent meeting. Members of the Parks and Recreation Board said in a social media post that commissioners had sent them a letter just last month expressing enthusiasm about working together.
If approved during a second reading scheduled for Feb. 26, the Parks and Recreation Board would officially dissolve on June 30.
