PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Pittsburgh International Airport received 443 diverted flights in 2025, approaching its record of 463 diversions set in 2018.
Airport officials say the increase followed severe thunderstorms in June and July that disrupted operations at several major East Coast airports. By the end of July, diversion totals at the airport had surpassed the pace set in 2018 and exceeded the five-year average.
Officials with the Allegheny County Airport Authority said the airport continues to play an important role in maintaining the flow of air traffic within the national airspace system during weather-related disruptions.
