WHEELING, W.Va. — The City of Wheeling has taken steps to install electric vehicle (EV) chargers at two locations in the city, pending funding approval. Michele Rejonis, the Marketing and Community Relations Specialist for the City of Wheeling confirmed to River News that City Council approved the plan during its Tuesday meeting.
The project, estimated at $73,915, will be funded through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program under the Biden Administration.
Five chargers are planned: two at Centre Market and three at the Intermodal Transportation Center. Drivers will be required to pay a fee using a credit card to charge their vehicles.
A specific installation date has not yet been set, and the project is contingent on the receipt of grant funds.
