OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. — The projected cost of a proposed second Interstate 70 interchange at The Highlands has risen sharply, with current estimates reaching $160 million.
That figure marks a significant increase from a 2023 estimate of $72 million.
Planners say the additional interchange is intended to improve traffic safety and provide easier access to businesses near the Highlands Sports Complex. Supporters argue the project would help ease congestion in the rapidly developing retail and recreation area while supporting continued economic growth.
Officials have not yet announced a construction timeline as funding discussions continue.
