Local Church Breaks Ground on $1M Expansion

HARRISON COUNTY, Ohio — The Harrisville Methodist Church broke ground Sunday on a new sanctuary and fellowship hall, launching a long-planned expansion aimed at meeting the needs of a growing congregation.

Church leaders say the project has been nearly a decade in the making and comes as the current 100-seat sanctuary has reached capacity. The new sanctuary will double seating to approximately 200 and add a fellowship hall. The existing sanctuary will remain and be converted into Sunday school classrooms.

The expansion is expected to cost more than $1 million. Leaders say strong support from church members and the surrounding community has positioned the project to potentially be completed debt-free within the next few years.
