Wheeling Police Seek Public Help Naming New K-9 Officer

WHEELING, W.Va. — The Wheeling Police Department is asking the public for help naming its newest K-9 officer.

Department officials are encouraging residents to submit name suggestions that are one or two syllables, which can make commands easier during the dog’s training.

Officials said they will review the submitted names and present the finalists to the department’s K-9 unit before announcing the winning choice.

Those interested in submitting a name can do so through the Wheeling Police Department social media page. The department hopes to reveal the K-9’s name by the end of the week.
