Martins Ferry Mayor Responds to Street Sweeping Complaints

MARTINS FERRY, Ohio — John Davies, mayor of Martins Ferry, said he has addressed concerns raised online about street sweeping in the city and believes the situation did not need to escalate on social media.

Complaints surfaced about dust along Fourth Street, prompting discussion about the city’s ability to maintain regular street sweeping.

Davies said the city’s street sweeper is currently out of service and would require extensive repairs. He noted that purchasing a replacement could cost roughly $125,000, a decision that would require approval from Martins Ferry City Council.

The mayor said he has communicated directly with those involved regarding the issue.
