WHEELING, WV — A Wheeling-based physician has been sentenced to federal prison following a conviction on fraud-related charges.
Nitesh Ratnakar, who operated Valley Gastroenterology in Elkins, was sentenced to 41 months in prison for tax fraud and obstructing a grand jury.
While Ratnakar held privileges at Wheeling Hospital, federal prosecutors focused their investigation on his medical practice and medical-device business in Randolph County.
Officials say the charges stem from financial misconduct tied to those operations.
