BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – Shoppers at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville were greeted by a large law enforcement presence Wednesday, but officers were there to raise awareness and funds for the fight against heart disease.
The Belmont County Sheriff’s Department joined several local police departments and officers from the Belmont Correctional Institution for an event benefiting the Ohio Valley American Heart Association.
Belmont Correctional Institution Warden Shelbie Smith helped organize the effort, bringing together the Department of Corrections, the sheriff’s department and local police to raise money for the organization.
Belmont County Sheriff James Zusack said his department was happy to participate when approached about the event.
