COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio — A Wellsville man sentenced last week for a shooting that injured a teenager has received an additional year in prison after pleading guilty to possessing a weapon while in jail.
E’Mory Chiles pleaded guilty Monday to attempted possession of a deadly weapon while under detention, a third-degree felony. The one-year sentence must be served on top of the six to eight and a half years he received last week for the shooting.
Investigators said Chiles had a metal shank while being held in the Columbiana County Jail on the shooting charge. He was secretly indicted on that count in September 2025.
Chiles was originally arrested in April 2025 after a teenager was found with a gunshot wound to the hand following an argument near 18th Street and Nicholson Alley in Wellsville. Authorities said he disposed of the firearm after the shooting.
