WETZEL COUNTY, W.Va. — Motorists in the Reader area should expect daytime lane restrictions beginning early April as a fiber optic installation project gets underway.

According to officials, portions of West Virginia Route 20, County Route 52 (McKimmie Ridge Road), County Route 20/17 (Shortline School Road), County Route 40/1 (Reader Run Road), and County Route 17/1 (Ashland Ridge Road) will be reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, starting Thursday, April 2, 2026, through mid-June.

Flaggers will be in place to maintain traffic flow. Drivers are advised to slow down in work zones and expect minor delays.

Officials note that inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could impact the project timeline.
