CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Patrick Morrisey on Tuesday signed legislation cutting the state’s income tax and changing oversight of high school student-athlete transfers.
One of the new laws reduces West Virginia’s income tax rate by five percent, part of an effort by state leaders to provide tax relief.
Morrisey also approved a measure returning authority over high school student-athlete transfers to the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission.
State officials say the change restores decision-making power to the governing body that oversees interscholastic athletics across West Virginia.
