Gov. DeWine Recognizes April as Fraud Prevention Month in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio —Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has issued a proclamation recognizing April as Fraud Prevention Month in Ohio. The Governor and his administration are using the commemoration to remind Ohioans of the work state government does every day to fight waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer funds.

“Since day one, my administration has worked hard to prevent fraud and abuse in state government programs,” said Governor DeWine. “We will continue to innovate and put safeguards in place to ensure that taxpayer dollars are not misused.”

The Governor’s proclamation states that “prevention, education, strong consumer protections, and public awareness are critical in helping consumers recognize common scams and keeping them informed of emerging fraud trends.”

Numerous state agencies also commemorated Fraud Prevention Month by sharing information on their year-round efforts to fight fraud. These include agencies that work on Program Integrity to prevent fraudulent claims for taxpayer dollars. Other agencies who have consumer protection missions shared their efforts to fight consumer fraud, which can inflate the cost of goods and services.
