YORKVILLE, Ohio — A massive fire reduced a multi-story building to a total loss Sunday afternoon after flames tore through the structure, consuming much of its roof before crews could bring the blaze under control.
The building, which housed the DelVecchio Insurance Agency, Busack Realty, and residential apartments on its upper floors, was destroyed in a fire that took more than a dozen departments from Belmont and Jefferson counties approximately five hours to extinguish.
Firefighters also contended with multiple hot spots that continued to flare up throughout the response. Public Road was closed to traffic while crews worked the scene.
One firefighter was treated then releaased from a local hospital for minor injuries. Charity organizations are helping residents displaced by the fire.
