Pleasant Valley Church in Liberty Township Suspends All Services Indefinitely

NILES, Ohio — Pleasant Valley Church, located at 2055 Pleasant Valley Road in Niles, Liberty Township, has suspended all services and ministry programs indefinitely.

Pastor Chip Trebilcock announced the closure in a Facebook post Friday and cited deep concerns about the congregation’s spiritual condition in his announcement.

“After prayerful consideration, I presented to the board that Pleasant Valley Church is currently broken and no longer fulfilling the Great Commission in a healthy or effective way,” Trebilcock wrote. “After discussion, the board agreed with this decision and accepted my recommendation to suspend all current church services, Bible studies, Sunday school classes, and ministry programs under the current Pleasant Valley Church model.”

All worship services, Bible studies, Sunday school classes and ministry programs have been canceled. The church is now listed as temporarily closed on both Google and Facebook.

Victory Christian School, located in the eastern section of the church complex, will continue to operate without interruption. The “Blue Building” sports complex also remains a priority and will be completed and used by the public in the future.

Trebilcock said the timing of the closure was driven by a desire to avoid further harm to the congregation.

“However, after the disruption that took place on Wednesday night, I believe another public service in the current environment would likely create more confusion, division and unnecessary pain. I believe the most Christ-honoring path forward is peace, and submission to the leadership decision that has been made,” he said.

Trebilcock suggested the congregation find new places of worship due to the uncertainty of Pleasant Valley Church’s future.

“Because I do not know when or what a future relaunch may look like, I am encouraging every person currently attending Pleasant Valley to find a healthy, Bible-believing church where they can worship, grow, and serve,” Trebilcock wrote.

Trebilcock closed his statement with a call for prayer.

“Please pray for wisdom, biblical clarity, healing and direction as the board and myself seek the Lord for what he may desire to do in the future through what has always belonged to Him — His church,” he said.
