WHEELING, W.Va. — Wheeling Heritage has announced six recipients of its latest Partnership Grant Program, awarding a total of $6,000 to support projects focused on historic preservation, arts, recreation, education and community development in Wheeling.
Wheeling Heritage says the grant program helps fund initiatives that align with its mission of revitalizing the city through community investment and creative projects.
“This was an especially competitive round with so many exciting applications submitted,” said Riley Carpenter, director of programming for Wheeling Heritage. “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who is investing their time, talents, and energy into projects that strengthen our community and create meaningful experiences for residents and visitors alike.”
The six Cycle Three 2026 Partnership Grant recipients include:
- Towngate Theatre – Support for Places: A New Play Full-Staged Production, a world premiere production by playwright Butch Maxwell set for June 12–14.
- PLANTS LLC – Funding for GROW Wheeling, a literacy and youth engagement project that will establish an East Wheeling Little Library and educational programming.
- West Liberty University – Support for the return of the 48 Hour Film Festival Sept. 4–6, featuring student filmmaking and a free public screening.
- Ohio Valley Trail Partners – Assistance for the 19th Annual Wheeling Heritage Trail Tour, promoting cycling and trail improvements.
- Retroactivity LLC – Funding for the 2nd Annual Wheeling Film Noir Fest, celebrating classic cinema and film history in downtown Wheeling.
- The Friendlier City Project – Support for Pride Festival 2026, a free June 13 celebration at Heritage Port themed “Free to Be.”
Wheeling Heritage says the next Partnership Grant application cycle opens July 1 and closes July 31.
The organization says its grant program continues to support projects that help preserve Wheeling’s history, strengthen neighborhoods and create new opportunities for community engagement.
