RAYLAND, Ohio — Golfers gathered in Jefferson County on Saturday for the second annual Laborers Golf Scramble, raising thousands of dollars to support local children through the Coats for Kids program.

The fundraising event was held at Schubes Paradise Golf Course and brought together community members, local businesses, and supporters for a day of friendly competition and charitable giving.

Organizers announced that this year’s event generated $15,000, all of which will help provide winter coats and other necessities for children in need throughout the region.

Event supporters said the scramble was created as a way to give back to the communities that continue to support local businesses and organizations throughout the year.

Jennifer Schubert said the event reflects the importance of neighbors helping neighbors and supporting families across the Ohio Valley.

Participants spent the day on the course while also contributing to a cause designed to make a meaningful difference for local children when colder weather returns.

Organizers noted that community involvement remains the driving force behind the event’s success, with volunteers, sponsors, and participants all playing a role in helping raise funds.

The annual scramble continues to grow and has become an important fundraiser for the Coats for Kids program, which assists families by providing warm winter clothing to children in need.

Supporters say the strong turnout and generous donations demonstrate the power of community partnerships and the willingness of local residents to help those facing challenges.
