BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — Students at St. Mary’s Central will have more reading options available when they return to school this fall thanks to a $5,000 grant awarded through the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries.
The funding will allow the school to purchase new books, audiobooks and magazines for its library, expanding resources for students of all reading levels and interests.
St. Mary’s was one of 220 schools nationwide selected to receive funding through the program, which distributed more than $1 million to school libraries across the country.
School officials say the grant comes at an important time, as many students have already worked their way through much of the library’s current collection. The additional materials are expected to provide fresh reading opportunities while encouraging literacy and student engagement.
The library improvements are part of broader investments taking place at the school, which is also undergoing millions of dollars in facility upgrades.
Administrators say the new books and learning materials are expected to arrive and be available for students before the start of the next school year.
