Child Injured in Collision With Unmarked Police Vehicle in Weathersfield
WEATHERSFIELD, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after an unmarked police vehicle struck a child Wednesday afternoon in Trumbull County.
The collision happened at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Prospect Street, east of state Route 46.
According to the Highway Patrol, a Weathersfield Township police officer was driving an unmarked Ford Explorer east on Prospect Street when a boy entered the roadway from the south side while traveling north.
Authorities did not specify whether the child was walking or riding a bicycle at the time of the collision.
The boy was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital with injuries described as minor. The officer was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
