Christmas comes early for Belmont County employees

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio – The Belmont County Commissioners met a day early on Tuesday, Nov. 26 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Holidays may be a little more festive for Belmont County employees after commissioners approved a revision to the county policy manual to add Christmas Eve as a paid holiday.

The board also approved a motion for the purchase of property from the Ronald Reger Trust for a right-of-way needed to replace a bridge on Glen Run Road. The Belmont County Engineer’s office will complete the bridge project.

The board approved a request from the Wayne Township Trustees to reduce the legal axle road limit on the township’s roadways by 50 percent from Dec. 1, 2024 through April 15, 2025 based upon the recommendation of Belmont County Engineer Terry Lively.

Commissioners agreed to sign a grant funding document from NatureWorks specifying that the Belmont County Dog Park will be used only for public recreation or nature purposes.

Commissioners agreed to notify the Ohio Division of Liquor Control that they do not request a hearing and have received no objections to the transfer of a liquor license from Lafferty Lodge No. 1462 Loyal Order of Moose & Grassy Patio on Harrah St. in Lafferty to Lafferty Lodge 1462, Loyal Order of Moose on Mt. Hope Road in Lafferty.

Commissioners announced two upcoming changes to their regular meeting schedule:

  • Will meet Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 9 a.m. instead of Wed., Dec. 4 due to a scheduling conflict
  • The Wed., Dec. 11 meeting will begin at 11 a.m. instead of 9 a.m. due to a scheduling conflict
