STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — The Jefferson County Drug Task Force announced in a press release Wednesday, that they, in collaboration with the Jefferson County Special Response Team, Steubenville Police, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a series of successful operations earlier this week resulting in the arrest of four individuals on drug-related charges.
On Tuesday, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Garrett Avenue in Steubenville. As a result, Logan Smith, 21, of Chicago and Golden Dawson, 23, of Steubenville, were taken into custody. Both individuals have been charged with drug possession and are scheduled for processing through Steubenville Municipal Court.
The following day, Wednesday, a separate operation was carried out at a home in the Lewis Addition subdivision, located just north of Steubenville city limits. During the search, detectives discovered 60 grams of methamphetamine. As a result, Brian Benton, 42, of Steubenville and Mary Baker, 23, no address listed, were arrested at the scene. Both face charges of drug possession and will appear in Jefferson County Court in Toronto.
So far in 2025, the Jefferson County Drug Task Force has executed eight search warrants and seized 545 grams of narcotics from Jefferson County streets.
These operations highlight the ongoing efforts of the Jefferson County Drug Task Force to combat drug activity and maintain the safety of local communities. Law enforcement officials commend the coordinated work of all agencies involved. The task force is comprised of the Jefferson County Sheriffs’ Office, the Steubenville Police Department and the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office.
