State Rep. Don Jones Resigns to Lead Ohio Farm Service Agency, appointed by President Trump

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State Representative Don Jones (R-Freeport) officially resigned from the State House on Tuesday to accept a new role as Executive Director of the Ohio Farm Service Agency, a division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Jones was appointed to the USDA by President Donald J. Trump.

Jones, a Republican from Freeport, has represented Ohio’s 95th House District since January 2019. His resignation was confirmed by House Speaker Matt Huffman in a statement released Tuesday afternoon.

During his tenure in the Ohio House, Jones was known for his work on agricultural policy. He chaired the House Agriculture Committee and also served on the Natural Resources, Finance, and Education Committees, advocating for rural and farming communities throughout his district.

In his new role, Jones will oversee federal agricultural programs and services across Ohio, supporting farmers and rural development efforts through the Ohio Farm Service Agency.

Jones’s resignation as state representative will be effective on June 1. He assumes his duties with the USDA June 2.

A replacement for Jones in the 95th District has not yet been named.
