Weirton Set to Celebrate Independence Day with Parade, Music, Games, and Fireworks

WEIRTON, W.Va. — The City of Weirton is gearing up for a full day of fun, festivities, and fireworks during its annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 5.

This year’s theme, “A New Beginning,” reflects the community’s spirit and excitement for the future — and with a jam-packed schedule of free activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The celebration begins at 4 p.m. with the Independence Day Parade, hosted by the Weirton Park Board. Residents and visitors can line Main Street to enjoy colorful floats, patriotic displays, and community pride on full display.

Immediately after the parade, Main Street and the area behind the Millsop Community Center will come alive with a wide variety of attractions:

  • Corn Hole
  • Patriotic Pet Contest
  • Bike Decorating Contest

  • Live Music by Homer Maple and Everett Metz
  • Craft Vendors
  • Food Vendors
  • Children’s Activities, Games, and Crafts hosted by local organizations

All activities are completely free.

Later in the evening, the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau will present a special performance by the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m. at the Weirton Event Center. The day will end with a spectacular fireworks display around 9:45 p.m., lighting up the summer night sky in celebration of America’s birthday.

Organizers encourage attendees to bring chairs and blankets to relax along Main Street and in the Event Center parking lot. Guests participating in water activities are advised to bring a change of clothes, with facilities available at the Millsop Community Center.

This year’s Independence Day Celebration promises to be one of Weirton’s most exciting yet. Community members and visitors alike are invited to stay after the parade and enjoy an evening full of music, games, and patriotic fun.
