Sen. Capito Clarifies Timeline as West Virginia Flood Victims Await Federal Disaster Aid

WHEELING, W.Va. — As West Virginia residents continue to recover from last month’s devastating flash flooding, confusion over the timeline for federal disaster relief is raising questions about bureaucratic delays.

U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito on Thursday expressed concern that the White House had not yet acted on West Virginia’s request for a presidential disaster declaration for flood-ravaged Ohio and Marion Counties.

However, following her remarks, Capito’s press secretary issued a clarification regarding the timeline of the request, explaining that both Governor Patrick Morrisey and the federal delegation’s requests for disaster declaration were submitted on the same day of June 20.
