WEIRTON, W.Va. – One local Ohio Valley police department is conducting a DUI checkpoint tonight, Saturday, Aug. 30.
The Weirton Police Department, in conjunction with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention, will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint to enforce the state’s impaired driving laws Saturday night.
The checkpoint will begin at approximately 7 p.m. and end at approximately 1 a.m.
The sobriety checkpoint will take place on Penco Road in Weirton.
Sobriety checkpoints are announced to comply with Supreme Court rulings, authorities say.
The Weirton Police Department says if you’re planning to drink this Labor Day weekend, plan a sober ride home:
- Call a taxi
- Schedule a rideshare
- Call a sober friend to bring you home
- Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over
