Brooke County officials have taken steps to reorganize the county’s 9-1-1 advisory board after several years of inactivity.
The county previously maintained a 9-1-1 board, but its mandate expired in 2018 when no new appointments were made to fill expiring terms. Without a functioning board, formal oversight and advisory support for the county’s emergency communications center lapsed.
The effort to revive the board follows increased scrutiny of the Brooke County 9-1-1 center. In May, a county fire chief urged state officials to investigate operations at the center, alleging violations of state law. Those allegations brought renewed attention to governance and oversight of the emergency response system.
County leaders say the reorganized board will help provide transparency, accountability, and guidance for the future of 9-1-1 operations in Brooke County.
