MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. — Two educators in Marshall County Schools have been suspended without pay pending the outcome of legal proceedings tied to an alleged strangling incident involving a six-year-old autistic student.
While the Marshall County Board of Education did not publicly identify the individuals during Tuesday night’s meeting, the suspensions, effective December 4, align with ongoing court cases involving Special Programs Director Erin Cuffaro and McNinch Primary School Principal Jane Duffy.
Board members discussed the disciplinary action in executive session before announcing the suspensions. District officials have said the measures will remain in place until the related legal matters are resolved.
Former Special Education teacher Kiersten Moses, who faces criminal charges after allegedly choking a 6-year-old autistic McNinch Primary School student, previously resigned, and the Board of Education later accepted that resignation.
