TORONTO, Ohio — Toronto City Council has approved a new collective bargaining agreement with city firefighters represented by the International Association of Firefighters Local 2229.

Council members also authorized the mayor to enter into the three-year agreement. The contract calls for wage increases of $1.25 per hour each year over the life of the deal.

City officials say the agreement ensures continued fire protection services while outlining compensation terms for firefighters through the contract period.
