CAMBRIDGE, Ohio – The inaugural Crossroads Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K drew an impressive crowd Saturday, May 16, signaling a strong start for what organizers hope will become a lasting tradition in Cambridge and Guernsey County.

A total of 242 runners participated across all three races—well above expectations.

“That was a higher number than we anticipated,” said Race Co-Director Ron Gombeda. “We had hoped to hit 200 and we exceeded that number.”

The event was made possible through a partnership between the Guernsey County Community Development Corporation and the Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce.

Gombeda credited the success of the race to strong community support and teamwork.

“I want to thank my race co-director, Jennifer Vincent of the Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce. I could not have done this without her help,” he said. “I also want to thank our staffs, volunteers, EMA, the Guernsey County Sheriff, Cambridge Police and Street Departments, and all local EMS stations that assisted.”

The race coincided with Cambridge Main Street’s Finish Line Festival, led by Executive Director Kim Harra, adding to the day’s energy and community involvement.

With turnout exceeding expectations and strong local backing, organizers say the Crossroads race series is poised to become a new annual tradition in the Ohio Valley.
