WHEELING, W.Va. — After spending months on the road and covering nearly 3,000 miles by bicycle, one man is approaching the final stretch of a journey aimed at raising awareness about childhood hunger across the United States.
Mark Strauss, 73, is participating in the No Kid Hungry Ride, a cross-country effort supporting programs that help provide meals to children facing food insecurity.
Since beginning the ride in April, Strauss has traveled approximately 2,700 miles, passing through communities across the country while promoting the mission of ensuring children have reliable access to nutritious meals.
According to the No Kid Hungry campaign, millions of children nationwide continue to face hunger each year. Strauss said witnessing the vast agricultural landscapes across America reinforced his belief that childhood hunger is a challenge that can be overcome.
Throughout the journey, Strauss has relied on a support team and contributions from donors who have helped advance the cause.
Now nearing the end of his ride, Strauss hopes the miles traveled and conversations sparked along the way will encourage more people to support efforts aimed at ending childhood hunger.
Those interested in following his progress or contributing to the campaign can learn more through the No Kid Hungry Ride initiative.
